WHAT IS FOOD SECURITY? • Availability of nourishment – worldwide, national, neighborhood, family unit – arrive, water, inputs, innovation, yields • Access to sustenance – national, nearby, family, individual – costs, pay, riches • Utilization of sustenance – impact of water quality, sanitation, wellbeing

FOR VULNERABLE PEOPLE… Food frameworks have not been working for quite a long time. Influenced by monetary & climatic stuns, by uncertainty. Financial Contraction has exacerbated things. Expanding numbers not able to buy nourishment they require; Food frameworks not serving interests of little scale makers; Increased instability in costs and varieties in provisions. Quantities of ravenous and malnourished have expanded.

PARTNERSHIPS FOR AGRICULTURE, FOOD SECURITY AND NUTRITION The idea of nation and local associations, and an all-encompassing Global Partnership for Agriculture and Food Security , advanced amid 2008. There was an expanded concentrate on wholesome security as an association objective. This soul of Global Partnership has been taken forward in 2009: it is currently reflected in the progressing change of the Rome-construct Committee in light of Food Security .

THE CHALLENGE FOR ALL OF US Avoid making new bureaucratic and intergovernmental layers Provide purposeful support to National Authorities Link with Regional political elements, Banks, Economic Commissions Focus on decreasing powerlessness by: 1) Enabling access to sustenance - enhancing nourishment, social insurance and sustenance frameworks (assessing life-cycle vulnerabilities), 2) Improving accessibility of nourishment - accentuation on little scale horticulture 3) Making markets and frameworks for exchanging nourishments work in light of a legitimate concern for needy individuals Promote deliberate activity with an attention on MDG 1 and the requirements of needy individuals Bridge short and longer term reactions, philanthropic and advancement help

A FOCUS ON COORDINATION High Level Task Force is a period restricted UN framework element built up toward the end of April 2008 by the UN Chief Executive Board in Bern (UN framework Top Management) Includes FAO, WFP, IFAD, World Bank, IMF, UNICEF, UNDP, WTO, UNCTAD and 14 other UN substances (Funds, Programs, Departments); ILO as of late joined UN Secretary General as Chair: FAO Director General as Vice Chair One Coordinator and a little Coordination Team

A PRINCIPLED APPROACH The L'Aquila Food Security Initiative: Support for Country Led anticipates Food Security Pursuing a Comprehensive Approach (all measurements of sustenance security) Coordinated activity at nearby, national, sub-territorial, local and Global levels Multilateral activity with a solid part for the Multilateral System Increased national and universal speculations with straightforward following and mapping of advance This work is being taken forward at nation level with support from sub-provincial and local elements (The occasion to start support to Rwanda was on Dec 7 and 8)
