GREECE ~ 2008 Number of tenants: 11 million occupants (2001) Illiteracy: 9 % Number of Bookstores: 2.650 1.070 : Bookstores that have a place with Book Organizations 1.500 : Small Bookstores & grocery stores 80 : Stationary Stores No of Newsstands with books: ~ 850 Number of Publishers: 650 (in 1990: 374) VAT rate: 4,5%  for books 19%  for magazines & interactive media Fixed Book Prices: there is an altered cost for "2 years of age" new titles. (the book shops have the privilege to make a markdown until 10% for these new - 2 years of age titles. More established titles can be sold with greater rebate, contingent upon every book shop.

GREECE ~ 2008 Promotion of Trade and Marketing: Book Fairs ► Book Festival, in Athens, at Dionisiou Aeropagitou str, under Acropolis. 2 times each year (the most recent 50 years) for 17 days, in September and in May. ► Book Fair in Piraeus (the harbor of Athens) close-by the ocean. ► Book Fair at Thessaloniki (close-by the ocean) ► International Book Fair of Thessaloniki (the most recent 5 years) with distributers from Greece & Europe. Trade of outside rights, meetings for Publishers and Booksellers, and book presentations.

GREECE ~ 2008 "Hellenic Federation of Publishers and Booksellers" ( POEV – www.poev.gr) - POEV was established in 1961. - It is not a non-benefit association, but rather an alliance. - POEV's individuals are every one of the Unions of Booksellers and Publishers of each huge city of Greece. - The pay originates from each Union which composes book fairs in each huge city. - The Federation is presently an individual from the IPA, FEP and EBF - in 1974, the Federation partook in the Frankfurt Book Fair in which it has been taking an interest each year from that point forward, the length of to all enormous book Fairs far and wide. - In 1998, the index of Greek Bibliography was translated in an advanced frame under the name "VIVLIONET" (www.biblionet.gr) - Greece was a respected nation in the Frankfurt book reasonable of 2001.
